Welcome to the Motown Soup Blog – written by Zak
My name is Zak Kennedy, and I am honored to serve as President of Motown Soup. We are pleased to introduce this new blog, where we will share updates about our mission, our volunteers, and the continued impact of our work in communities across Michigan.
Whether you are new to Motown Soup or have supported us for many years, thank you. Motown Soup is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has operated for more than two decades from our state-licensed kitchen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Utica, Michigan. Our organization is run entirely by volunteers, and our mission is to help end homelessness and hunger through the sale of dry soup, dip, and dessert mixes.
Our products have expanded from a few original soups to a full line that includes both traditional favorites—such as Chicken Noodle, Tomato Bisque, and Potato—as well as unique varieties like Lasagna, Chicken Pot Pie, and Dill Pickle. We also offer a wide range of dips, cookies, cakes, and muffin mixes. All products are available at www.motownsoup.com, through fundraising efforts, and at craft shows across the state.
Since our founding, Motown Soup has donated over $2.25 million to organizations that provide food, shelter, and essential services throughout Michigan. Supported by more than 100 regular volunteers and over 200 annual participants, every dollar of profit is directed back into Michigan communities to support those most in need.
While we take great pride in what we have accomplished, the need for assistance continues to grow. Through this blog, we look forward to sharing stories of the people behind our mission, the organizations we support, and the ongoing efforts to ensure no one in our communities goes hungry or without shelter.
On behalf of everyone at Motown Soup, thank you for your continued support and for joining us as we begin this new chapter. Together, we can continue to be “Good for You, Good for the Community.”
